Secretary of Education meets cross-border families

[6 June, 2017] Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, Secretary of Education, visited ISS-HK’s cross-boundary students service centre in Luohu, Shenzhen today and had a meaningful dialogue with cross-border students and parents to understand their needs and concerns.

At his second visit to the centre, Mr Ng was greeted by Mr Stephen Yau, Chief Executive, Ms Iris Liu, Director of Programme and Ms Florence Wong, Director of Development for Services in Mainland China and had an in-depth conversation with 17 cross-border students and parents. Our service users shared the challenges faced in cross-border schooling and applauded our centre’s work in guiding and assisting them along the way. Mr Ng and his team also approved the centre’s impactful services provided to these families.

ISS-HK has helped Hong Kong families living in Shenzhen and cross-boundary students since 2006. Under the “Enhanced Support Services Programme for Cross-boundary Families” sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, ISS-HK currently runs two service centres in Luohu and Nanshan, Shenzhen to assist cross-boundary students to develop potentials, strengthen family relationships and promote family functioning.
