EXTRAORDINARY LEADERSHIP CAN BE LEARNED

As we hold our breath for the election of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong on March 26, 2017, what are your thoughts about what kind of leader you want, and what kind of leader do you want to be?

Many people can be leaders. Very few will be extraordinary leaders. What will it take to produce extraordinary leaders?

Bowen family systems theory offer refreshing ideas about leadership. Understanding and using Bowen Theory leads to improved individual functioning and leadership effectiveness in the important relationship systems of life.

This seminar will enhance the participants’ understanding of the emotional side of the systems that we are in (e.g. family, organizations), and how we can achieve effective leadership through working on the self in one’s own family (developing our differentiation of self or emotional maturity).

Presenter:
Dr. Roberta M. Gilbert is a psychiatrist whose special interest is Bowen family systems theory and its applications to individuals, families, and organizations. She is the founding director of the Center for the Study of Human Systems and is on the faculty of the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family (formerly Georgetown Family Center). She is a life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Gilbert is the author of five books that deal with applying Bowen theory to life. The first book, Extraordinary Relationships, published in 1992 by John Wiley & Sons, grew out of her work with families and individuals. Her second book, Connecting with Our Children, published in 1999 by John Wiley & Sons, is a story of the principles of Bowen family systems theory for parents. Both books have received wide acclaim. Her newest books, The Eight Concepts of Bowen Theory; Extraordinary Leadership: Thinking Systems, Making a Difference; and The Cornerstone Concept: In Leadership, In Life were written as texts for the Extraordinary Leadership Seminar.
