The International Child Protection (ICP) Dinner 2019 was held on 1 November at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center and raised over HKD1.6 million.

At its fifth edition, the ICP Dinner was well attended by Consul-Generals as well as representatives of the local and overseas business sectors. Apart from helping International Social Service Hong Kong Branch (ISS-HK) continue its cross-border work to help children from families divided by geographical boundaries, funds raised at the evening would support the organisation’s work in fighting against school bullying in Mainland China.

Mr C P Ho, Chairman of ISS-HK thanked his guests for making ICP Dinner a fixture on their social calendar and for their generous support for a uniquely worthy cause. “For some time now, HK-ISS has been the only local NGO delivering this vital service but the realisation of the Greater Bay Area will lead to policy and people shifts in many areas and therefore will impose an even heavier workload on us in terms of social welfare for children.”

Ms Iris Liu, Programme Director in charge of ISS-HK’s ICP services, briefed the guests on her team’s work on “Fighting Against School Bullying in Mainland China”, theme of the ICP Dinner 2019. To raise awareness and equip those involved to better deal with school bullying cases, the ICP team has been conducting seminars, trainings, meetings and carnivals for students, parents and teachers since September 2019, and called on the guests’ support to raise funds to continue their work in the country. Guests actively took part in the Live Auction conducted by Christie’s, with attractive prizes such as art works, luxury hotel accommodation package, fine wines, jewelleries and dining experiences either donated or arranged by vendors supportive of the ICP Programme.

Following the successful auction, the “Sponsor A Programme” session was conducted for guests to directly donate to the ICP team’s “For Kids – Zero Tolerance to Violence” programme. A silent auction and lucky draw also helped raise more funds for the cause.
