Guangzhou-Hong Kong Service Centre for the Youth facelift gives more space for new facilities
The Guangzhou-HK Service Centre for the Youth in Li Wan District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province has been established for 10 years. To align with service development, the Centre was recently renovated to create more space for service provision.
The library (for parents and children) has been merged with the library (for adults) at an adjacent building to make room for a children activity room. The conference room was also converted into a classroom to expand space for services.
A new service was started this year to offer support for pregnant women and families with children under three. Services include information on parenting, prenatal and postnatal care as well as home visits to families and women in need.
The Centre is jointly operated by ISS-HK and Feng Yuan Street Government Office in Guangzhou with social workers organizing a variety of services and activities for youths and their parents. It is the first of its kind in Guangdong Province that combines school-based service and centre-based service in providing service.
