“Becoming Steady in a Shifting World: Bowen Theory for Single Young Adults”

This interactive workshop invites participants to explore Bowen Family Systems Theory not just as a clinical tool, but as a personal framework for growth. Through real-life case sharing and peer dialogue, we will examine how the "emotional unit" shapes the identity of single young adults and ourselves. Participants will engage in self-evaluation to reflect on their own level of differentiation and emotional triggers. Moving beyond traditional teaching, we will learn from each other’s experiences to better coach clients toward building a "solid self."

Speaker: Ms. Elaine Ngan
With a Master of Social Sciences in Counseling from the University of Hong Kong, Elaine Ngan brings a systemic lens to her work with young adults. Elaine’s approach is rooted in Bowen Family Systems Theory, where she guides clients through the vital process of building a stronger sense of self. Currently dedicated to providing support at the HKU Counselling Unit, she is passionate about helping the next generation and other single adults find balance between their personal goals and family dynamics.
